Boring Boring Blatter

Sepp Blatter is to football what Adolf Hitler was to world peace. He is a boring old cunt interested only in greed, power and money. His ideas on seedings are total nonsense and destroy football as a spectacle. Seeding only servs to perpetuate dynasties of footballing dominence and gives little chance to emerging nations to taste the sweet flavour of victory in major championships. The draw for the World Cup 2010 is the most boring I have ever witnessed. Just look at it, every group is totally predictable, there are no surprises whatsoever.
Compare this to the draw for the 3rd round of the FA Cup. A much smaller competition in terms of stature yet it is revered around the word as the greatest cup competition on earth. And why? Because its got an open random draw. Anyone can be drawn against anyone, no club is out whinging like the French were cos they didn't get seeded. The draw is made and the teams just get on with it.
How fantastic is it for a small non-league club to get drawn away to one of the major superclubs like Manyoo or liverpool, and even more fantastic if they come away with a draw or even a win.
Yo cannot buy that type of possibility, you cannot manufacture it, it is just there, its called chance, and chance is such a big part of the game of football, to take chance out of the equation is to choke the life blood out of the world cup competition. Is it any wonder the Cup never travels outside of the the few nations that have already managed to win it. True, France did win it for the first time in 1998, but they got such a helping hand along the way in terms of seedings and also being hosts.

Anyway, talk on the interweb lately has centered on the idea of scrapping seedings altogether and simply having an open random draw when it comes to the final 32. Maybe it should be open all the way, the purist would say so. To help with this idea i have dvised a simple little webpage the carries out a random draw for the 2010 world cup. The results are staggering, the possibilities endless and it is my personal belief theat this would be a much fairer way of deciding who plays who in the world cup finals of 2010 and future world cups.
If the fallout from the Theirry Henry handgoal incident has taught the world anything it is that seeding teams (the original sin) only results in misery and acrimony for real fans of football all over the world while lining the pockets of already mage-rich multinational companies like coca-cola and addidas who really couldn't care less who wins the world cup as long as it means extra profits for themselves.

Should video technology be introduced to soccer? NO...

No - video evedence should not be brought in on the evidence of this blatent handball by theirry henry. Sport should be above recrimination, cheaters should have a zero tolerance, henry should be kixked out of football for life for behaving so dispicable and not even having the courage to admit the action was 100% deliberate, that would do more for the sport than technology ever could, its like blaming the lack of a speed camera for driving too fast - in any case the referee did have the option of consulting the replay if he so wished...

Boycott FIFA/Addidas/Gillette

Irelad may be a small country but we can show our disgust and what has clearly been a case of big busniess getting what it wants at the expense of what we all hold dear - that is our honesty, or integrity, and our sense of justice.

These 3 FIFA/Addidas/Gilette all wanted France to qualify for the World Cup for reasons of pure greed that had nothing at all to with football, sport or fair play.

There is only one response ft for such grotesque injustice - a good kick in the balls!!!

I am calling on all Irish and all those who support the notion of the republic to boycott these three - what use have we for them in our lives - none whatsoever, grow a beard if necessary, wear umbro, wear a t-shirt proclaiming 'Fair Play FIFA me arse!!!', boycott the World Cup it self, what is it now but a money making sham, deviod of all soul, what fan could support that?

Wharever it takes - they wanted France and Henry in the World Cup so that they could make more money. Well they've got the result but they still got to make the money. Hit these guys in the pocket, that is all they know!!!

Henry - a liar and a cheat

Henry - "As a footballer you do not have the luxury of the television to slow the pace of the ball down 100 times to be able to make a conscious decision."
Me - As a footballer you train hard on three key areas, physical fitness, skills and decision-making, decisins are made at lightening speed, the best palyers are those with the best skills, physical condition and decision making ability. You work hard to put your body in the right place at the right time and execute the skills with lightening speed and pinpoint precision.

It is quite amazing that one of the most technically gifted players of the last 10 years does not even recognise the simple principles of what makes him such a good player. In fact he recognises this perfectly and that is why this statement is nothing more than a lie put out there for general public whom he believes are beneath him and therefore incapable of recgnising that this was not unintentional but a blatent, cowardly and insipid action by a player who should know better. Does he seriously expect anyone to believe that he is not respnsible for the movement of his own hand. I think he needs to look at the replay and see what everyone else can see clearly.

The longer he goes on denying what is plain for the world to see the more cowarsly he becomes...

Request from arty people for my signature...

I recieved a request from the National Campaign for the Arts for my signature to a petition to stop cuts in the upcoming budjet, this is my response...

I fundamentally disagree with this request, while i do believe that art is entirely necessaru and the bedrock of society i do not believe that it can be saved from the axe in the budget, the greatest of art comes from the soul and not the wallet, its time for all those cry banies to wipe their eyes and get on with rebuilding the country from the ground up instead of all living in cloud cuckooland

consider for a moment this poem written by myself in 2005 and performed under duress and threat of arrest in dublins temple bar area

OLD AGE KILLS
Do you ever wake up in the morning and feel like your living inside of a cage
You jump in your car join the queue to get to work but traffic is in a great rage
Stories of political corruption, deception and murder occupy the front page
Your life could be like this forever, and then you'll die of old age

Gone is the Ireland of warriors and poets
Replaced by an island of wannabes and allknowits
Drivin '05's around P-P-P-PayAsYouGO roads
An economy fuelled by the banks who keep lending cashloads

So rise up ya poor man 'tis time to take up yer arms
The crash is a-comin' 'tis time to sound the alarms
Say up yours to Tesco's and replant the farms
And when the EuroPolitBureau comes knockin'
'Tis time to do them some harm
Chick-a-chick-Poooooohhh!!!!

Now thats fucking ART!!!

Ban Henry for 8 months - A logical argument

I am an amateur footballer and have played competively every season for the last 24 years. I play both gaelic football and (soccer) football. Being an amatuer means I play the game for the love of the game. Ro play professionally was always a drream of mine (and still is!!!). Nevertheless I train hard and fplay fair every week. I would like to take this opportunity to knock a few holes in the arguments of those who cannot or will not accept the blatent reality that Henry is a cheat, did cheat intentionally, and in the interest of football and sport in general should be banned from competitive action for at least 8 months.
First lets look at his statement and analyse its implications -
“I will be honest, it was a handball. But I’m not the ref. I played it, the ref allowed it. That’s a question you should ask him.”.
Ok, so by that logic Henry is saying it is perfectly acceptable to cheat if you feel you have a chance of getting away with it, and it is the responsibility of the officials to determine who is cheating and who is competing fairly.
Therefore fair play is optional and at the discretion of the player, while justice is ambigeous and prone to misjudgement and human error.
Are we living on the same planet?
Graeme Souness says "it wasn't intentional, we've all done it, if you've been a professional for five minutes everybodies done it"
So by that logic to move from being an amateur to a professional one must accept and indeed practice the art of cheating. This is the same man who week in and week out slates the likes of Didier Drogba for diving, yet in this instance he has shown his true colours. He believes in cheating, he considers it necessary for professional sport.
Kevin Doyle (surprisingly) says "its a natural reaction, i don't blame the player, if he's done it and got away with it fair dues to him"
Perhaps Kevin is being overly generous, he himself is the epitomy of honesty and I do not believe for a second that had he been in that position he would have done the same. However he lives in a world where cheating is clearly endemic and seems to be brainwashed into believing in the logic of Henrys argument outlined above.
Kevin Kilbane says 'its not so much Theirry Henry, its the officials, the official should have seen it"
I am often accused of swimming against the tide, well so be it, I believe that cheating is cheating, it is totally dishonest and is the total responsibility of the perpetrator and not the officials charged with refereeing the affair. Would you excuse a blatant murderer, whom everyone knew was guilty and who admitted the offence simply because his trial collapsed on a technicality, i think not?

Now lets look at FIFA and the 'Fair Play' movement
Quoting directly from the FIFA Fair Play website...
"The Fair Play Campaign was conceived largely as an indirect result of the 1986 FIFA World Cup™ in Mexico, when the handball goal by Diego Maradona stimulated the admirable reaction of the England coach, Sir Bobby Robson" and "the campaign has...the unconditional support of ...current [FIFA] President Joseph S. Blatter"
...and from the Fair Play Code...
"1. Play Fair...Playing fair earns respect, while cheating only brings shame. Remember: it is only a game. And games are pointless unless played fairly."
"3. Observe the Laws of the Game"
"5. Promote the interests of football ... Think of football's interests before your own. Think how your actions may affect the image of the game.... Encourage other people to watch and play fairly."

Henry has clearly cheated, yet he has laid the blame at the feet of the referee, he has not observed the laws of the game and he has certainly not promoted the interests of football, in fact what he has done is encourage others to cheat if necessary and deflect responsibilty onto others.

He has clearly brought the game of footbal into disrepute.

"9. Denounce those who attempt to discredit our sport ... Do not be ashamed to stand up to anybody who you are sure is trying to make others cheat or engage in other unacceptable behaviour. It is better to expose them and have them removed before they can do any damage. It is equally dishonest to go along with a dishonest act. Do not just say no. Denounce those misguided persons who are trying to spoil our sport before they can persuade somebody else to say yes."

The Fair Play Campaign has the unconditional support of President Sepp Blatter. The argument is therefore clear and unambiguous, he must impose the principles of Fair Play if he is to have any credibility, he must 'remove Henry from football before he can do any [more] damage'.

The length of the ban is discretionary but at the very least it must include the World Cup, after all what meaing will a few flags with Fair Play written on them have at the greatest show on Earth if the men standing behind the flag are none oter than Thierry Henry and Sepp Blatter?

If Blatter does not take the necessary action then it is he who must be removed from football be fore he can do any more damage!!!
